Originally named Lake Alcona and considered sacred by the Chippewa Indians, Hubbard Lake is the largest natural inland lake in northeastern Michigan. The spring-fed lake covers 8,800 acres and is well stocked with bass, perch, pike, tiger muskie, trout and walleye. It is a popular destination for summer angling as well as winter ice-fishing. White Pine National Golf Club, located on the southeast edge of the lake attracts golfers. Motels, cabins & cottages, and resorts offer a variety of accommodations for tourist visiting the area.
