Lewiston is located on the eastern half of Twin Lake in Albert Township in southeastern Montmorency County. This town start during the lumbering boom of to 1890’s when the Michelson Hanson Lumber Co. built a mill and general store in the community. Like many other Northern Michigan towns that were settled by New York natives. The town thrived by supporting the resort community that developed around the lake. The community offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as boating, fishing, golfing, hunting and snowmobiling.
