Taxidermists

In addition to mounting animals for clients, taxidermists collect data and keep records about specimens that are found in the wild. Taxidermists often build display stands for clients, which include private individuals and museums or others wanting to display mounts. Some taxidermists work as sole practitioners, while other taxidermists may be employed by museums. Taxidermists are often asked to make re-constructions of extinct bird and animals for people to study. Many taxidermists are aware of regulations regarding wildlife hunting and will refuse work where poor sportsmanship has occurred in obtaining the animal. Many taxidermists belong to the National Taxidermists Association and follow its stated code of ethics.
